I don't know if the following is a stupid idea or not, but.......
How about splitting the group???

c.o.m.djgpp
Could be left to all you experts to discuss the high level stuff.

and

c.o.m.djgpp.newbies
Could be used by us newbies. For posting *ANY* "dumb newbie" questions we
have why we learn how to use djgpp and the odd C query.

I just asked in another NG about memory and speed pro's and con's using
structures and arrays.
I was unsure if this was a general C or DJGPP related question.(i.e.
Does it depend on the compiler or not.)
Given a newbies NG anyone could ask similar questions.

Experts could choose whether they wanted to bother with sifting through
newbie questions or not.
And newbies could subscribe to both NG's.

ALTERNATIVELY

A split with a
c.o.m.djgpp.ob off beat news group.
Where people could discuss the Quake source code stuff type.

I'll just go put my asbestos suit on, BRB. ;-)
