I'm using Allegro to write a graphical program which must
simultaneously display several bitmaps. As I'm developing the graphics
alongside the code, I find myself frequently needing to generate a new
optimised 8-bit palette. I've been fudging my way through this with
Paint Shop Pro and another palette synchronisation utility, although
there is no way of locking certain colours to assigned indicies
(transparency and the mouse cursor colours).
Surely this problem is as old as the hills and there must be loads of
programmers' utilities written specifically to get round it? I've
searched x2ftp and shareware.com, and pulled off almost everything to
do with 'palette', however I've found nothing suitable.
Any suggestions?
James.
