Thanks to the people that responded to my questions on shells/scripts and such. I have bash up and running nicely ... I still call it as a secondary shell and flash back to command.com when I am not developing. Still working on getting 4dos configured to my tastes, but I am not sure that it is worth it anymore with bash available. Quick question. I have found all the ^? commands that allow you to move up and down the history list. Is it possible to map these commands to the arrow keys. Another thing is that the command line is not editable even on the first time it is entered. I have to backspace over everything or use fc if it is in the history list. Can this be altered or is it built into bash to remain that way? I just noticed that the bash that is on our systems at work don't have these problems. Thanks again the help offered already. TIA cat
