Actually, it doesn't work that way.  The GPL requires that *if* you
choose this option, you have to provide that promise *in writing* with
the binaries.

You can't do that on usenet, since nothing is in writing (paper).

Traditionally (yes, this comes up often), the FSF has maintained that
electronic distribution MUST include sources available through the
same method and site (i.e. if ftp, must be same server, if usenet,
must be same group).
