Better: movw (%%ebx.%%ebx,1),%%ax

Omitting the base register requires an offset (1 or 4 extra bytes) which 
can (if I'm not mistaken) cause pairing problems on a pentium if the %ax 
register is replaced with a constant (and the operand reversed of
course).
