perhaps your HogThreshold in /etc/dosemu.conf is improperly set.
personally this is what I do (optimize HogThreshold so that DOS gets
minimal CPU time) because I only use DOS to run a word processor (WordStar
4, it's ancient and can run on an XT). But if you want DOS to grab all the
cycles from Linux, set HogThreshold to 0 and it'll work.

(n.b. even with HogThreshold == 13, on my Cx486 [26 bogomips] I can run
Warcraft II in a DOSemu fullscreen and still have half the CPU left over
to do "real" multitasking ;)
