I get the impression you mean you are ready to start programming in C
and you want a *pointer* (pun! tee-hee) in the right direction.

"The C Programming Language" by Brian Kernighan and Dennis Ritchie is a
good start.  There are also a bunch of resources on the web if you check
out yahoo under programming or one of the others.
