The maintainer was planning to implement all of my patches which
include a couple of bug fixes for binary files, but he refused to
include the RCS_LINKS. I suggested that it could be added as a
compile-time option, but he felt it was unimportant.
I would say that for users on WinNT where LFN support through DJGPP is
absent in WinNT3.5, but I think it is present in 4.0 (right?), the
Win32 native port would be best. If you need the RCS_LINKS feature,
there is only one option. I am a strong supporter of centralized
management of tool maintanence. If you use RCS_LINKS, please let Paul
Eggert know so that we can get all of the patches into the main code.
I do plan to recompile for v2.01 just in case anyone still want to use
my versions. I'm downloading the latest distribution as I write this
letter. (Thanks for GNU/Linux.)
