Please read the file readme.1st.  It says that to compile C++ programs, 
you should use gxx instead of gcc, like so:

	gxx ex1.cc

Please always post the entire gcc.log file, not parts of it.  The reason 
is that the clue to your problems might be in the parts that you omitted, 
and since you don't know what the problem is, you cannot know which parts 
of the log are necessary.
