Why not? I started out on Intel, and I agree AT&T is better.

Use NASM - it uses Intel syntax, and is compatible with DJGPP.

Don't have to. It's the same language (you might notice, people use the
word 'syntax'. This doesn't mean it's a different language). The only
difference is in the way you type it - generally, Intel is
<blah> <dest>, <src>
While AT&T is
<blah> <src>, <dest
Which is a lot easier, 'cause it's the way people read (unless you're
reading in Hebrew {Did you know the English language is written
backwards?})
