A beginner to C or a beginner to programming? If the former, I have a
copy of 'The C Programming Language' 2nd Ed, by Kernighan and Ritchie,
and find it indespensible. One of the good parts about it is that it's
a fairly small book. Mind you, I find Appendix B (the definition of
the standard include libraries) is looking extremely well thumbed, by
now!

It's not specifically about DJGPP, but it's basically an ANSI 'C'
book, and as DJGPP is ANSI C, then , well, you get the idea.
