I don't know much about Allergo but I'm using Jlib for somewhat the same thing and it seems to work fine. It has a good set of documentation too. I posted a message earlier asking what the differences are to the two libraries but nobody has answered yet.... Anyway if you can't get it to work you might try Jlib. Hope this helps...
