Well, in fact, the support is already there. LD and related tools use BFD
library to write object files. BFD already has support for ELF so, I imagine,
that adding the support to DJGPP would be a matter of changing a) gas code to
output ELF objects, b) LD code to link together ELF modules and/or convert
COFF ones to ELF format during the linking process (is it a loseless
operation?), c) writing a new image loader
