I have just recently downloaded a nasty virus from Internet. Unfortunately I
can't tell where did it came from. I have d/loaded from over a dozen of sites
during last week. Anyway, the virus manifests itself by infecting and
increasing size of all executables (.ov?, .com, .exe). It seems that it looks
at the beginning of the file to see what type it is. After few days of strange
computer hangups it happily overwrote both copies of FAT on the startup drive.
Ths root directory had been also wiped clean... So, the result was a complete
data loss... The only scanner that detects the virus is TB-Scan (don't know
where to find it - I got it from a friend of mine) which detects an 'unknown
virus'. From what I discovered after the crash, the virus infects ALL
executables on ALL accessible local drives in their CURRENT directory. It
erases system areas ONLY on boot drive and ONLY if it is a HD partition.
