Do you have a DJGPP.ENV file installed on that machine?  If so, try 
renaming it to something else and see if that helps.  If it doesn't, post 
the output of "SET > env.lst" from the same DOS box where the problems 
happen.  The contents of CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT might also supply 
some slues, so please throw them in too.
