Thank you for this information; judging by other messages asking
about emacs, maybe this could be added to the FAQ <grin>.

Now that I know how simple it really is, I'm going to ftp that source code
and try it.

It's true that the FAQ does say that emacs 19.31 "compiles out of the box."
However, I may not be the only beginner whose first reaction is "Yes, for
someone who has already been working with C for five years" <grin>.
