One playful query about the "optimal system" in FAQ201 (as I recall,
FAQ200 is the same).
In describing a "dream system" for DJGPP, the FAQ recommends a Pentium Pro
200. My query: given that DJGPP runs in a mixed 16/32 bit environment,
might not the new Pentium 200 (regular P5) actually be a tad faster?
Of course, I don't want to miss the humor of this whole section of
the FAQ -- but it did raise the question of whether DJGPP can somehow
take full advantage of the Pentium Pro despite the 16-bit code still
present in DOS itself. I'm curious what experts here might say.
In any case, the FAQ remains both informative and entertaining, even for
a beginner like me who hasn't yet come across many of the problems
addressed there.
Most appreciatively,
Margo Schulter
