This is a known limitation.  It would take some time to fix it, and noone
seems to have the time to justify fixing it.  Since 387s (and 486DXs) are
essentially free now, I'm not sure fixing it is cost effective.  If you
have free time and want to work on it, I can tell you where to get started.
