both Winzip and the InfoZip handle long filenames intelligently, truncating
on the platforms that have 8.3 naming, and unzipping to the long filenames
on the platforms that support them.

winzip is shareware, information available www.winzip.com, ftpable from
ftp.winzip.com.

Infozip is free with source (compiles nice with DJGPP v1!), information
available from http://quest.jpl.nasa.gov/Info-ZIP/, ftpable from
ftp://ftp.uu.net/pub/archiving/zip/.
