OK, I solved the problem.  I want to say thanks to everyone who
contributed advice.  Turns out that although I had installed CWSDPMI
beta9 in my DJGPP directory, there was an earlier version in a
location that appeared earlier in my path, so that was getting called
instead.  I feel kinda dumb now.  :-)
