Most of the people I meet these days who tell me Emacs is counter-
intuitive got that impression from old Emacs versions which left them so
disgusted as to never again look at Emacs.  I'd advise to have another
look at recent versions.  They have menubars and mouse support, which
makes Emacs much easier for newcomers. 

Just my $0.02; I don't mean to start that religious war once again, mind 
you.
