  Good news?  This is *FANTASTIC* news.  Which video-modes is
currently able to preserve?   Is the video-memory-preservation done
with a stand-alone function, say, one function for each mode (or
mode-type?)  I ask so that maybe people who know nothing about
debuggers (me) but know something about graphics could make Gdb aware
of other video-modes as well (mode-X.)
