Maybe this is too *large*.  Ever tried to do it with /e:1500 ?

From your message, it appears the problem is related to coff2exe.exe.
Maybe your coff2exe.exe is an old one or somehow damaged?  Or maybe
coff2exe.exe garbles the .exe because of the large /e: setting?
