   Conversion to version 2 is going to involve a certain amount of pain, but it
   sounds like it will be worth it.  I doubt if I would have noticed the object
   file format change if you didn't mention it.  Wasn't something else used
   before COFF?  I found that change transparent.

I didn't -- I had to redo Emacs' dumping.  Right now I can think of
three programs that would need some major hacking if the format was
changed: Emacs, my Full Screen Debugger, and V2's djasm.

So I don't think a change would be a good thing.
