I have both 1.09 and 1.12 on my system. If you set the environment vars 
for 1.09 and then try to use 1.12, the  env will override the djgpp.env 
file and cause great problems. subsqeuntly I don't have any environment 
vars set in my autoexec and just call a bat file depending on which one I 
need to use. Your problem may have been similiar.
