Subject: Catastrophic problems with v. 1.12

Hello experts!

A week ago I have sent the following message, but nobody ever
confirmed having compiled large applications under XMS.

I can't beleive beeing to only user suffering from the problems
mentioned below and still hope to get some help.

===================================================================

Using djgpp 1.12 WITHOUT dpmi (in the same environment that is ok
with v. 1.11m5, e.g. XMS V3.07 from win 3.1) shows catastrophic
problems, although tiny test programs like test\t*.bat seem
to work (go32 reports 12M of free xms ram).

Using make to rebuild e.g. bison, make or cc1 crashes the system
without any error message.

When using dpmi from win 3.1 msdos box, that problem disappears, but
some large applications still get pointer exception errors from
malloc+200.

I had described those problems to DJ in mai, but unfortunately he
wasn't helpfull at all ;((

Has anybody ever sucessfully built large applications calling malloc
for sizes of >32K ??

Please report your experience by email because I do not get the listserv
mail.

Thanks and regards!

Hans Ellenberger
