  If you DO want EMS, then use the RAM switch and leave out the NOEMS 
switch.  If you don't want a lot of EMS, then specify a size which is 
enough to hold what you need.  This is how I usually do it with DOS 5.  I 
don't know about DOS 6.  I think it has to do with the UMB.  NOEMS will 
allow you to have just UMB for TSR's and such, but RAM will give you this 
PLUS you get EMS memory.  Check the manual to see what the default is... 
it may have changed with DOS 6.
  Also... make sure you DEVICEHIGH or LOADHIGH some/all of your TSR's, 
include EMM386!
