Subject: HELP! Installing DJGPP on a Gateway2000 486DX2/50

Hi,

I do not know anything about how memory is handle in DOS.
XMS and EMS do not ring a bell to me.

I've read the FAQ (djgpp.faq), but I still do know how to
solve this problem:

Go32 error: Using XMS switches the CPU into V86 mode.
If you are using QEMM, add the 'on' parameter to the entry
in your config.sys file. See the FAQ for details.

In the config.sys, the machine uses himem.sys; i.e.,
device=c:\windows\himem.sys, but there is also this line:
device=c:\dos\emm386.exe RAM NOEMS x=d000-dcff

HELP! I don't know what to do! I think our local PC
guy hard coded the memory address so the network
interface card (a SMC Elite 16T 10BaseT card) would
work.

Has anybody encounter this? What should I do?

thanks so much!

-RK
PS: I am really not a DOS person. So please execuse
on this subject.
