   Sorry, you have to gunzip it first.  The only program that's good
   about de-unixifying file names in djtarx, and it can't read gzipped
   files.

...or you could get a pre-compiled version is .zip format, fitted
to 1.4MB per diskette:

# A differently packaged, but otherwise identical, version of the
# pre-compiled Emacs can be found on ftp.demon.co.uk or in
# ftp.imada.ou.dk:/pub/mirrors/msdos/emacs-19.24.  The distribution
# is around 9MB including sources.
