     There's at least one bug that goes away with a compiler change.
There's some bug in stat() that gets fixed; unfortunately, I've
forgotten what it is, exactly.  I do know that compiling with Borland
3.1 does fix the infamous demacs "File has changed on disk; really want
to edit the buffer?" bug.
