On that case, I don't know the answer.  Are you running under DOS, Windows or
OS/2?  Do you get this message even for trivial programs?  Add the -v option
to gcc and it will tell you the commands it is executing.  Which step fails?
Is there anything unusual about your system configuration (special drivers,
files from a network, etc.)?
