The common problem with builtin VESA driver in 1.11 is that it incorrectly recognizes the size of video memory, reporting just 256KB on many cards (Cirrus,
Trident). Then the driver disables all the video modes requiring more memory.
I have tested several VGAs with 1.11. One that really works is ALI2201.
Anyway this is a problem inside driver, and I hope Csaba will fix it soon.
Otherwise I will (but not soon...).
