Subject: EMX help needed

I recall that a number of people have discussed EMX previously here, so
I thought this might be a forum which might be helpful regarding EMX (if
someone knows of a better forum please let me know).

I am attempting to install the symbolic math system PARI, which uses EMX.
However, the PARI release does not state what version of EMX it requires,
nor does it give any info at all on how to install EMX and how to invoke
PARI using EMX.

I am using pari1377 of 9/93. I tried a version of EMX (0.8h) of 12/93
but this complained "incorrect EMX version" when I tried to start
PARI. I tried another EMX version of early 1993 and this gave an
immediate page exception (int 0E if I recall correctly) and locked
up the machine.

I have no prior experience using EMX so I don't know if the above problems
are due to incorrect EMX version or due to incorrect configuration.

Is there anything special that I need to do after unzipping EMX before
I invoke PARI? As is, I simply unzipped EMX, and ran the DOS command:

	emx d:\pari\gp.exe

Does EMX require PATH to point to its installation directory or any other
environment initializations?

Any useful comments would be greatly appreciated as I'm stumped.

Thanks in advance,

-Bill
