I found out the problem with ld, but now I am needing help compiling
a program.  I typed: 

gcc -Wall -pedantic psx.c 

and the file I got back was a.out . Now I know that this isn't a dos
executable file.  What do I have to do to make it an executable dos file.

Just in case I did the right thing I renamed the a.out file aout.exe
just for experimentation and if I run it I get an EMM386 exception 
error.  

Another question when I boot up I use Emm386, himem, smartdrv, should any
of these programs get in the way preventing me from running my program on
my machine?
