Irecently upgraded from Dos 3.3 to 6.2. This has managed
to break gcc and all of the programs compiled on gcc. The reported problem
is that gcc, and all the programs that use go32.exe feel that my cpu is
*not* running in real mode but rather in 8086 mode. It was ok before with
3.3. Is there some magic incantation or could there be something
incompatible with my motherboard ( a Peaktron PA 386SX - 16) or .... Any
help would be appreciated.

All the programs compiled with gcc, and go32 report the same error, and
terminate. This error is (rough paraphrase)

This program needs cpu in real mode, not 8086 mode.

I have removed the noems from emm386 ... This allowed my 386 version of
EmTeX to run. goscrip ran with no trouble but it may not really need 386
mode.

Thanks,

Michael Ferguson
