hi -- i have a lot of trouble running the compiler on my HP OmniBook, with
4 meg of memory. unless i'm careful what drivers i load up, i get
"Error: not enough memory to run go32!" or something similar to that. now,
this little baby runs DOS5.0, and normally himem.sys, so that's the XMS
driver. after i get the memory error from go32, if i run go32, it reports
XMS memory available as -4Kb. before i get the memory error, the same
command shows 2952 Kb free. in both cases there's loads of swap, of
course. if i take out himem.sys, i can build just fine, though my ramdisk
no longer loads, since it wants XMS memory.

anyone have any ideas? i'm pretty new DOS memory juggling, so i could
well be overlooking the obvious -- so don't hesitate to point it out!

paul
