Subject:	initial startup problems

I have just installed MSDOS gnu-c on my PC and am having some
initial startup problems. Any help would be appriciated. My
problems are:
     1. when trying to compile and run the sample problems I
        cannot get the makefile's to execute properly. I tried
        running them by typing 'gcc @makefile. They seemed to
        execute but could not find many of the required executables.
     2. I was confused about where to look in the documentation
        for the correct compile switches.
