Hi there!

TeX isn't an editor or word processing program. It is a free sientific
typesetting system that consists of LOTS and HUGE programs and data.
There are several implementations of TeX for PC's. One of them, emTeX, has its
home at ftp AT uni-stuttgart DOT de in pub/soft/tex/systems/msdos/emtex. It's a
really large but powerful one and takes zip'ed about 11 1.44MB discs for a
full implementation. A smaller one, PCTeX can be found at Simtel and its
mirrors.
If you have brought up your TeX system, tex the <doc>.tex files to get
a .dvi (device independant) output file from them. The file texinfo.tex, which
contains macro information to tex the docs properly, must be in the same or
the texinput directory. Do not use LaTeX, that internally contains other
macros, not useful or even worse for the docs.
To get an output from the .dvi file on a device, e.g. sreen or printer, you
need a driver program and the matching font data.
Since it isn't a few minutes job to bring up a TeX system running (for the
first time), i will upload the docs in PCL or PS format if someone provides me
a home for them.
