Subject: - VESA Driver -

Date sent: 7-AUG-1992 21:04:42 WET

Hello, dj-users,

I've downloaded the djcpp package recently and I'm really impressed by its
capabilities. I've decided to use it for programming an image processing
software, because of the large amount af data (several Mbytes) it requires,
but also because of the Super-Vga functions.

Here comes my problem: I'using an Orchid Fahrenheit 1280 board with 1 Mb of
memory; this board is made from the 'S3 GUI Enhancer Chip' which can be
found in the Diamond Stealth (?) board as well. There is no go32-driver for
this board, which seems only to accept VESA modes. I'm not an asm-guru at
all, but it's not a big deal to write the first part of the driver, which
is the mode selection. However, I don't know how to build a correct page-
mapping routine. I've tried to use the vesa paging routine in the VGA-KIT
but it does not work.

The drivers of djcpp are located in the directory djcpp/drivers; they are
the .grd (or possibly .grn) files (sources are the .asm files)

I would be very grateful if someone could help me because I'm really stuck by
this problem.

Thank you for tips, and advice.

Renaud.
