The problem was that bash builting read was broken when input file was
in DOS text file format.
The patch uses binary format for input and discards found CRs. The
problem appeared as libtool
failure when building libstdc++-v3 of gcc-4.3.0. Both patched
bash-2.0.5b and bash-2.0.4 worked OK.

Hint: try reading several text lines using bash builtin read from DOS
style text file.

Andris

PS. Strange but now failed to reproduce the problem.
