MSDOS does not imply Windows - DOSEMU is fairly popular, and does not
yet support long file names.  Besides, DJGPP configurations expect the
new suffixes consistently regardless of LFN or SFN status.

Many GNU utilities have djgpp-specific install scripts that do exactly
that.
