Yes, it will need more than one option. You could
choose between one or more network protocols, serial
communication, etc. But one that works for the 90% of
the systems could be a good start.

Well, it could be done, but I want to avoid it.
In fact is much better to just do some small hooks to
the GDB/MI code and use it "as-is". This seems to be
possible because of the additions to create libgdb
(the one provided by gdb). 
What I don't like is the big dependency that RHIDE
have with gdb internals.
