If it gets done before 2.04 beta I agree - but I think it would be better 
to have 95% of the new stuff in 2.04 than nothing.  If it compiles and
works (even with missing pieces) I would check it in.  No harm in
having 2 versions of each file in CVS to add missing features.

Since C99 compliance was a major goal of 2.04 ...
