Good question... Time to stand forth. :-)
I don't know if it surpasses your personal threshold of 'being used
much', but I'm currently in the process of migrating 300+ branches of
our customer's front-end application (across Czech Republic) from
Borland C++ 3.1 to DJGPP, to be done by the end of the year. It's a
sports-booking company, so the application is basically an advanced
point of sale terminal, about 90000 lines of c++ (plus the libraries).
The migration is a logical move to better technology without the need
to migrate all the branches to Linux, which would be far more
expensive and painly.
You could say "grrrr, another evil commercialist profiting of our
work", but we know it's YOU who helped make the world a better place
:-) and I believe, that "one day" I'm also going to contribute it.
Hopefully I'm clever enough to do so...
So I'm delighted to express now how your great work helped us and many
others as well for sure. Maybe it's dying out on the development
side--being excellent and not needing further improvements. DOS
itself is dying out as well after all. But I'm sure both will be
enjoyed by many in next years.
