I wonder if MartinS's recent work on fpclassify will fix this. Maybe ieeefp.h

If you're building Perl 5.8.0, you may wish to use my latest patch from here:

    http://www.phekda.freeserve.co.uk/richdawe/djgpp/perl/5.8.0/

It has no fixes for the problem you mention, but it should have the same fixes
as were made for the DJGPP port of Perl 5.6.1.
