This code will only be called under Windows NT, Windows 2000 or
Windows XP (note check for _os_trueversion == 0x532).  Your 486 
will use the PIT timer.  It would never even try to execute this 
code, much less install the handler.  But if you are worried, feel 
free to build and test the protection code in the doucmentation for 
_rdtsc (I tried it on a few 386/486 machines, but not specifically 
a 486 under W98).
