One problem with the design & patch is that they don't specify/cope with the
ANSI I/O functions - fopen, fwrite, etc. I'll revise the design and patch, to
cope with that. Hopefully I'll submit a new patch sometime this weekend.

I think the POSIX I/O is OK, though, so please review that.
