>> Huh? It thinks that C++ compiler is available.

EZ> Perhaps it knows that gcc can compile C++ programs?

Yes, it does. It uses 'gcc' for compiling C++ programs as a last
resort, however in my case it does not check that it works!

EZ> But I'm not even sure it thinks a C++ compiler is available--where did
EZ> you see any evidence that it did?

Try my configure script without AC_PROG_CC. It will abort: 'C++ compiler
cannot produce working executables'. I would expect similar check
from original script I've posted, but there isn't any. And CXX and
CXXFLAGS are happily subsituted in Makefiles with this script.

EZ> If it thinks a C++ compiler is not
EZ> available, perhaps that's because it doesn't know about gxx and gpp?

No no I'm talking about situation where C++ compiler is _not_
available.

Laurynas
