I *have* had problems with (g)install crashing under DOS 5.0 + bash 2.04,
and sending a report has long been on my list of things to do.  IIRC it
always seemed to occur in a particular directory (weird), but I'll
re-investigate and see if I can make sense of it in light of this thread.
