stat_assist (which we were discussing LFN32 tag) is in stat.c in v2.03 
instead of lstat.c.  It also contains code using strcmp for other 
purposes (scan the 2.03 source and you'll see).  This was under the
assumption we will consider doing this in 2.03 refresh someday.

I was refering to the v2_03_1 branch.

Only if we plan to update/beta another 2.03 refresh should we put it
in the v2_03_1 branch.  Until we decide I'd sit on any changes before
committing in that tree.
